NEWS:

^^^Mark Madden^^^
The only notable piece of news that I’ve heard is that Mark Madden may be on his way out of WCW. He was supposedly talking the smack about Eric Bischoff behind closed doors and it caught up with him. Gotta watch how you talk about your boss!

WCW vs. Ric Flair, next on the dockett. I still can’t believe it. With this lawsuit, Eric Bischoff is tearing apart the core of professional wrestling. One day off to see his kid wrestle in the biggest tournament of the youngster’s life up to that point. Any employer with any type of family values would have understood. For most of us, I’m sure it would have never been a choice. Our kids over the job every time.
But Eric Bischoff couldn’t grasp this. It was just a few weeks ago that Eric was talking about the perks of having such talent. He bragged about only requiring his talent to work 200 dates a year or whatever, and said that he would be able to accomodate anyone who needed any time off. Scott Hall seems to be a prime example of that.
But what does Eric do? First, he has Flair embarassingly beaten at the hands of the New World Order at War Games. Then he jobs him about 1500 times to Curt Hennig, then twice to Bret Hart after that. What is Flair’s reward for putting these company men over? Being taken off TV for a few months. Then Eric Bischoff has a spur of the moment thought and announces Monday that Ric Flair must be present on Thursday.
What really aggravated me was Hogan’s absence on Nitro two weeks ago. At least one reader is of the opinion that Hollywood’s no show was responsible for Raw’s ratings win. I don’t agree with this, but it does beg the question: Why can Hulk Hogan get a day off to go on Jay Leno while Ric Flair can’t to go watch his son wrestle? Why isn’t Hollywood being sued? He didn’t even promote WCW on the Tonight Show. It’s pathetic, in my opinion. I encourage all wrestling fans to visit the Free Ric Flair website at http://www.jdub.com/ricflair/
This site is dedicated to a protest of WCW’s lawsuit and a boycott of the company. I have written a letter to WCW and have left a message on their P.R. voice mail. Will my actions make a difference? No, but I had to get my thoughts off my chest. If thousands write and call, on the other hand, WCW will get the message.
Anyway, as anyone would know from reading this column, I am super pro-WWF. I would say that WWF almost always entertains me more than WCW. However, Monday’s Raw was a sad exception. This was the only since I’ve been at college that I’ve regretted not being able to tune into Nitro, as I don’t get TNT. To put it plainly, Raw sucked. Vince dropped the ball. The matches were boring, the main event was barely a mid-card caliber match, and the cemetary fiasco and coffins were disgusting. I sure hope Vince gets his act together in the coming weeks with Nitro pre-empted for the NBA playoffs.
It seems like WWF is promoting the idea that Ric Flair may be at Unforgiven. I am actually beginning to think this is a possibility. The WCW hotline reported that Ric Flair was TERMINATED from WCW and is being sued. If Flair was indeed fired, he is free to do what he wants, and it would have no effect on his lawsuit. I don’t think he’ll show, but hey, anything can happen. Vince did say something catastrophic was going to happen. Of course, he could mean Earthquake, who supposedly signed. Or with Vince’s track record, he could mean Savio Vega.
A tearful goodbye to Elizabeth, who may have had her swan song with professional wrestling. According to rumors, she has remarried and wants to move on. Liz will always be the first lady of wrestling. My memories span from her being carried away by George the Animal Steele to the Wedding at Summerslam to the alleged affair with Ric Flair that set up Wrestlemania 8. She never spoke much, but you could always see the emotion in her eyes, and fans adored her. Even now, she’s as hot as ever, and that smile still manages to light up the arena. We’ll miss ya, Liz!!
Kevin Kelly made a real classy move on Byte This! this week by mentioning Buff Bagwell’s injury and saying that he was gonna be all right. Good going Kevin! It was an unexpected, random act of kindness. My favorite kind of charity. Speaking of Buff, he is going to be all right, mostly thanks to the fact that he was in such great shape. Buff Bagwell is a great performer who is very photogenic and has a bright future ahead. Thank god his career wasn’t cut short like all too many have been. That’s all for now.
Toprope Analysis

MTrip1968@aol.com
ECW!! ECW!! ECW!! Hello, everyone, and welcome to another edition of ECW, oh, I mean Toprope Analysis, with your host, RingMaster T. Yeah, Yeah, I guess you know what I’m going to talk about in this week’s segment–ECW!!, and rightfully so. These guys, along with announcer Joey Styles, are putting on the best hour of wrestling/or TV each and every week. I actually get pissed off when I miss a show. You see, with WCW and the WWF, there are other chances to see clips or highlights of their shows later in the week. Between Thunder, WCW Saturday Night, and the other weekend shows, fans can miss the Monday Night wars and still get caught up. Thunder often becomes a highlight show for Nitro, as well as a promo for movies and PPV’s. That is why ECW is unique. There is only one chance to see it every week.Their brand of wrestling is different and the show is only one hour long. There is plenty of hardcore action and provocative interviews done in an entertaining style. Many of the stars work very hard and the fans appreciate the effort.
In less than a week, this coming Sunday, ECW will have their next PPV offering, WrestlePalooza. With a few of their top stars suffering and sustaining recent injuries, this PPV will be a bit light in the talent department. Taz is definately not going to wrestle, while Shane Douglas and The Sandman are both questionable for thier matches. However, the wrestlers who will be in action will work very hard, which will compensate for some of the other losses. Remember, its not always how much talent you have, but how well the talent performs. And ECW is never short on great performances. Sabu/Van Dam should be a terrific TV Title match. I look for this to be the Main Event, unless the Shane Douglas/Al Snow Title match is a go. Snow is so over with the crowd, it would be a shame if he doesn’t get the opportunity to wrestle for the ECW Title. Besides these two competitive match-ups, I really don’t see any other contest that stands out. If Sandman does wrestle or fight, the tag team war between Sandman/Dreamer against the Dudley’s will be an extremely grueling battle of brawling and street fighting. We may see Too Cold Scorpio appear as a possible replacement in this match. Justin Credible is fighting Mikey Whipwreck so expect mayhem and madness in this grudge match. Usual sidekicks Jason, Chastity, and Nicole Bass will be interfering at some point during the match on behalf of Credible. These two work very hard and will spend a lot of time outside the ring. This whole PPV will showcase the usual high-spots of Sabu, Van Dam, and Scorpio. Expect very few surprises, as an ECW card is always explosive and filled with non-stop hard bumps. This is violence at its best and highest level. Either you order it, or wonder if you missed something worth watching. ECW will deliver some memorable moments and you never know when its going to happen.
Until next time, this is RingMaster T, and maybe I will have some good thoughts and a review of Uncensored and the Live Raw on Monday. Everytime the WWF does a Live Raw, its usually very good and filled with some great action and a few surprises. Later, RM T.
The Spartan’s Suspicions

After a year of watching the new wrestling attitudes I have come to one primary thought, Without the kliq, wrestling would be done. If you just think, the Wolfpac (the members of the kliq in WCW) created the nWo, the most power force in wrestling, and now look what the kliq has done in WWF, they created dX. Now I know what you are saying, d X is just another of those WWF groups, but your wrong. DOA will soon become just the tag team of Skull and 8- Ball, as Chainz will get a big push into some angle. Then you have the Nation who will break up sooner or later and the Rock could end up in d X after the Nation falls. Now you had the Hart Foundation who includes Bret, Owen, Bulldog, Anvil, Pillman, Bennoit, and Jerico, who were all some way related to the Hart Family. d X destroyed the Hart Foundation in the WWF. Oh yeah there’s always the Buricuas, but I think Vince is planing on giving them the boot. But when you think about it, even when Hall and Nash head up north the nWo will still be strong until Hollywood turns face. Then with Hall, Nash, Michaels, Syxx, The New Age Outlaws, and one of the following Sid, Miavia, or Chainz, dX would be unstoppable. The Kliq reunited image what would happen. Stone Cold would have his hands full. Think of this possible match – d X v. SCSA, Owen, Vader, Shamrock, Michenuku, and the LOD. Wow when you think about the Kliq reunited its scarry, Vince will definitely regret some of the things that happen when he reunites the kliq, but he will be comforted by all of the money he gets.
A closing thought, how does Goldberg get the belt, Raven got jerked, so did Bennoit, and Hart better win the belt from Hollywood, if not Hart then Nash.
And its about time Scorpio got a push!!!!!!!!!!!!
Skyman’s Slams

First thing I want to do is to commend A&E for their excellent special, “The Un-Real Story of Wrestling”, which aired Sunday evening. At two hours in length, it is a very educational documentary of the history of professional wrestling, beginning with the role that wrestling has played as a form of entertainment in many ancient civilizations. I found it quite amusing to learn that Egyptian hieroglyphics have been discovered that depict wrestlers using various holds and techniques on each other and also talking trash which, in one example, translates as “I’m going to make you fall and faint away right in front of Pharoah” (an obvious early predecessor to “I’m gonna whip your sorry ass”)! Overall, I was impressed with the very positive light that they cast on the profession over the years and today, by showing the evolution and the ever-present yet growing appeal of professional wrestling as a form of entertainment. Included were interview clips from Hogan, The Giant, Shawn Michaels, Vader, Bischoff, McMahon, and many others. A video of the special is available from A&E, and I would highly recommend you cram it down the throat of anyone who questions your intelligence for being a wrestling fan. It just might change their mind.
Now on to a couple of recent developments — first off, the Ric Flair lawsuit. Reports are conflicting about the nature and status of the suit, but I will say this: it is great evidence of Eric Bischoff’s true personality that just a few weeks ago he said in a Prodigy chat that he strongly encourages his wrestlers to spend time with their families, yet levels a lawsuit against Flair for doing just that. I have even heard for what it is worth that he tried to pass the blame on Flair’s absence for the ratings loss to RAW a few weeks ago. The bottom line is, I still think NITRO is sucking, and the majority of the time it occupies the smaller frame of my TV’s picture-in-picture display on Monday night while I am fixated on RAW.
Secondly, the Dude Love/Austin/McMahon angle… gimme a Hell, Yeah!!! Though I generally don’t consider Mick Foley (or any of his incarnations) when I think of main event material, no one can deny that he is funny and entertaining whether on the mic or in the ring. As for McMahon, I am glad to see him getting more involved in a physical way. Especially when he is getting his ass whipped by Steve Austin, a man who has taken being a violent, beer-drinking redneck to incredible humorous heights.
Here’s a thought — I heard that HHH and Chyna are now engaged for real. You know that many men fantasize about being with Chyna for the novelty of it. Something about a women that can beat your ass offers a certain appeal to the adventurous mind. How do you date someone like that? She doesn’t seem like the kind of girl that you’d send flowers to. Speaking for myself, I’d take the novelty just to say I did, but marry someone like Sunny…hehe. Until then, I remain…

First of all, I’d like to thank everyone for the positive responses I got about the newsletter. It is Sunday Morning, at 4:34am C.S.T. .. so any predictions I make will be uhmm.. before Unforgiven, regardless of the time you get the letter. 🙂
First of all — various responses to last week’s questions :
DGP says :
1. i work till 7 and devote the rest of the time to wrestling.
2. raw being taped is good, i get the results and i stay up if something good will happen and sleep if I wanna catch it on livewire on saturday
3. no more wwf action because youll burn the wrestlers out. do you think all those WCW injuries just happen? with 5 tv tapings and lots of house shows bischoof doesnt give his boys a break. attached is something i wrote, go ahead and use any part of it if you want, just give me a little credit. thanx. out.
I tend to agree with #3, DGP — I just tend to think that I want to see original action. i mean, at one time, Stone Cold was just a mid-carder, if not a jobber. Exposure on some of the lower shows got him that break. Things like that got Goldberg into the Nitro/Thunder spectrum to put him to where he is now. Plus, it gives a ‘mainstream’ audience the chance to watch the shows. WWF’s only syndicated program is Shotgun Saturday Night, and that’s on anywhere from midnight to 1am. Other shows can be shown during normal times.
hey Matt
Here are my responses to your questions.
1) I watch Nitro from start to finish, and have a friend across the hall tape Raw for me.(I live in a dorm at Indiana U.) Then watch Raw as soon as Nitro’s over.
2) Honestly, unless I was on the Internet, I really would not be able to tell that Raw was taped, and most of my unlucky friends without access don’t have a clue its taped. It don’t really matter.
3) Is it just me or is there too many WCW shows on already. Come on, who really watches Pro, or Worldwide, or even Saturday night religiously? Not many. I think RAW and Shotgun is plenty enough wrestling action, especially with the lack of depth WWF has on thier roster.
Again, see the above response. The WWF has a lot of stars they don’t show. Just because they don’t have TV spots to them. And Livewire, etc.. those are all ‘highlight’ shows of Raw. Heh. Just in case you missed it!
Now, DGP wanted to share a little something something with us, so, the following are opinions of James, Mr. DGP, and himself. All views are his. 🙂
Hi, my name is James, and I’m an avid wrestling fan. I don’t know about house shows or what goes on backstage. I just evaluate what I see on T.V . on Monday and Thursday. Are you ready for some Sweet Chin Music? Well here it is. WCW is a joke. Its the “Senior” circuit in more ways than one. First off, whats up with the matches? Hollywood and Macho, Curt Hennig and British Bulldog/Bret Hart/Jim Niedhart, Goldberg against jobber #70? I swear I could pop in a SummerSlam from 1988-1992 and see these sa me matches. Second, why is it that whenever a group forms they always break up, case in point the nWo. When the nWo took over Nitro that was something great. I watched the encore just to see them do it again. The nW o has the members to totally destroy everyone in WCW but theyre to busy w ith the angle’s idea to break them up. Third, is Bret Hart ever going to wrestle? For that matter is anyone going to wrestle? At least anyone w ho is relatively new. Is Marty Jannetty dead, I saw him once and now he’ s gone. Im sorry but the only reason Nitro beats Raw every week is because a few or alot of people or everyone knows whats going to happen on Raw so they go to sleep early. WCW is built on old dying wrestlers with abo solutely no new ideas for matches, angles or anything else. Their TV cha mp faces high level jobbers every week, their US champ is never healthy, their tag team champs are non-existent, and their world champ never says a damn thing. I wouldve liked to see Sting in WWF within the past 1 1/2 years, with fresh ideas, not beating up on Hollywood and other wrestlers on Social Security. WCW sucks, WWF rules, just because WWF is fresher. I’m James and you just got hit with some Sweet Chin Music.
Another insight by me courtesy of some Sweet Chin Music. I know what can revitalize the image of WCW. I know what youre thinking, WCW beats WWF in ratings and is the “superior wrestling organization”. Like I said bef ore WCW is a joke but I can fix that. Have the wrestlers go back into th eir “oldschool forms”. We can have Hulk Hogan with “Real American Hero” playing in the background, Sting in different facepaint, actually talking , Mr Perfect and other wrestkers going back to the way they were in yesteryear. Of course this would only be a crude covering to a bad organizati on but it will at least buy WCW a week or 2 to think of some new ideas. I would sure enjoy seeing The Hulkster say, “Whatcha gonna do when Hulkam ania runs wild on you” than “The nWo worships me because im the man!” or “I just made another B-movie and I swear I’m from Hollwyood”. Take heed WCW just becasue youre live doesnt mean your better.
You have a lot of valid points there. Granted, opinions are just your own. 🙂 WWF, granted, has been doing a lot more with the talent they have .. but come on. Dude Love vs Steve Blackman as a main event vs. a Hogan/Savage and Raven/Goldberg card? it’s that way every single week. Let’s take the 15 stars WCW has that everyone knows… If I leave someone out, it’s not intentional. I’ll put Flair in here just for example purposes. Flair, Sting, Luger, DDP, Hogan, Savage, Nash, Hall, Hennig, Hart, The Giant, Piper, Raven, Goldberg, and.. someone like Buff Bagwell. They can have so many matches in between those, so many tag team matches, etc.. that all their Nitros can still be interesting and not ruin current storylines. Are you going to see Austin, Shamrock, Severn, HHH, Owen Hart, Farooq, The Rock, Kain, or Undertaker ever fight each other on live TV in a half-way decent match? Never. Because those are ‘pay-per-view’ matches. So.. Hogan may be old, he may suck, etc.. but if we want to talk about title matches. Austin and Helmsley are only defending their titles on PPV’s. Taka hasn’t defended his title in God knows how long…Wrestlemania? He’s now a jobber for heavyweights. Good opinions, and well versed. SOme people are just naturally Pro-WCW .. though the WWF is doing a lot better with what they have.. putting on decent pay-per-views and pretty good hype. I will agree that a GOOD WWF Main Event does a lot better than good WCW Main Events. Looking at “Matches of the Year” lately, most of them come from the WWF.
This column’s question, from a fan :
I just read your column asking for people to write in and share their opinions etc. well I have a good question…What do people think about the Bret Hart /Vince Mcmahon thing at Survivor Series.
Was it A) A work predetermined by the 2 guys involved
B) a Shoot part way. The stuff that happened in front of the camera was real but there was no back stage incident
C) A Full Shoot. Bret Decked Vince. Nuff Said
Email me at matt.diggs@chrysalis.org for any of your comments. Wrestlebabe? I haven’t forgotten about you. 🙂 Cute letter you sent me. 🙂 I look forward to our fun. 🙂 As we like to say. Ghost. And keep on reading
The Gospel
By: The Wrestling Profit
rblogh@sprint.ca
I hope everybody enjoyed the first Gospel. I was pleased by the responses I got, but i’d like to here more from the readers of this News letter. In Today’s Gospel, Unforgiven results and Analysis and the top 10 overrated wrestlers. So off we go!!!
Unforgiven
WWF’s Unforgiven was an average PPV, but okay for a post Wrestle Mania PPV. Here are the results of the matches. After every PPV i’ll rate each match and the PPV as a whole, The highest score is ***** stars and the lowest is one.
Six Man Tag
Blackman/Shamrock/Faroqu vs. Deelo/Henry/Rock
This match was actaully more exciting then I figured, considering Shamrock never entered the ring due to a ankle injury. The fans reacted with plenty of heat for the Rock (No surprise) and actually got into the match. I felt that Faroqu would have trouble turning face, but he’s getting there slowly but surely. Any how the match ended with Faroqu and the Rock going head to head, with the other wrestlers fighting on the outside. To make a long story short Faroqu hit the Dominator and pinned the Rock for the 1-2-3.
Winner’s
Blackman/Faroqu/Shamrock via pinfall.
Rating ***
A better match then expected and a good opening match. Kama didn’t wrestle again! could this mean the possible return of Papa Shango!!!
European Title Match
Owen vs. HHH
OWEN HART SUCKS! There I said it, I don’t care if he’s a fellow Canadian or not. Owen sucks as a face and needs to turn heel NOW. Owen was funny and entertaining when he use to bring his Slammies to the ring and make comments like “My loosy Brother Bret” . Owen Use to generate heat people cared about him, now he’s just a punk who get’s his ass kicked every week by DX. Well hopfully after his comments last night this will finally take place. The match starts with Chyna up in a cage and Owen domenating HHH, as the match goes on Chyna ripes the bars and atemps to jump out of the cage. Bad Ass endes up lowering the cage and Chyna escapes. Back in the ring Owen is setting HHH up for the Petigree and nails him with it, Owen covers HHH but the ref along with Slaughter were trying to keep Chyna from getting into the ring. X Pac then nails Owen with a Fire extingusher to HHH the win.
Winner
HHH via pinfall
Rating *
This match had no excitment and was way to perdictable. Even Owen’s mother new he was going to lose again!!!. This match was boring because Owen generates know heat as a face. After the match Owen told Micheal Cole that “This is Bullshit” YES YES YES finaly a glimpse of life from Owen Hart.
Evening Gown Match
Sable vs. Luna
Well the whole world was cheering for Luna on this one. Luna quickly ripped of the bottom to Sable’s gown, much to the delight of the 21 thousand fans on hand. Mero then came down and distracted Sable, which allowed Luna to rip of Sables top!!! Way to go MM I new you were good for somthing. Sable then power Bombs Luna in her underware and chases her under the ring.
Winner
Luna “THANK GOD”
Rating ***
This was a great match and quit an up lifting experience.
Tag Team Title Match
LOD 2000 vs. NAO
OLD, oh I mean LOD lost again to the best tag team in the world the NAO. NAO actually held there own with LOD through the whole match. It was also nice to see the Outlaws win without a foriegn object. The match ended when Road Dog misses Hawk and nailed Bad Ass with the belt, Hawk then suplexed Dog into a pinning combination but failed to lift his shoulders which caused the ref to count the OLD out. If you didn’t know that the NAO rule tag team wrestling then your ass beter call sombody.
Winner
NAO by pinfall
Rating ***
A entertaing match with a perfect ending. Sunny should dump OLD and head over to DX. Sunny just doesn’t fit in with OLD and would be better of in DX. Long live the NAO.
JJ Concert
Who realy cares. Jarret sings and actually looks like he isn’t lip sincing, then Blackman jumps him only to get knocked over the head with JJ guitar by Tennessie Lee. Jarret then struits to a choris of “We want Flair” chants.
Inferno Match
Undertaker/Kane
This was a realy cool match. Everytime Kane or Undertaker executed an impact move the ring would explode in flames. It’s know about 10 minutes in when Kane gets thrown over the top ropes and nearly goes up in flames. Kane then try’s to leave but is jumped by VADER!!! The crowd breaks into a Vader chant, when the undertaker does his best Luchador inpression by suicide diving over the top and knocking them both out. Undertaker then knocks Kane out with multiple chair shots before chasing Paul Berier over to the Band stage and beating the crap out of him. Taker then heads back to the ring area and throws Kane into the flames. Great match!!!
Winner
Undertaker
Rating ****
A revelutionary match which kep he fans on edge. Definitly a **** star match.
WWF Title Match
Dude Love vs. Stone Cold
Boy Austin might do the best interview in the busness, but I forgot just how dam entertaining his matches are. Any way the match starts with Austin Kicking a mud hole in Dude Love in the corner. As the match wares on Vince strolls down and sits in a chair by ring side “He better not Screw Austin!!!” Oh my God Dude has Austin in the Ubdominal Strech and Vince is telling the time keeper to ring the bell!!!. Good thing Austin reversed the hold or we could have had a Bret Hart all over again, except this time with body bags! Vince is know talking trash to Austin who is down and out outside the ring, Austin goes after Vince but is jumped by Dude Love. Fast Forwarding to the end. The ref is out cold and Vince is helpind Dude up outside the ring, Austin has a chair and knocks Vinces head of. Was he aiming for Vince “Oh Hell Ya!!!” Austin then roles Dude into the ring and gives him the stunner. Since the ref is out Austin counts Dude out for the 1-2-3. They’ve got the strucher out and are weeling Vince off ” He had it coming” The descision is then reveresed and Dude wins by DQ.
Winner
Dude Love by DQ
Rating ***
For a second I actually thought Vince was going to screw him. Any way a good match, Dude Love is a great heel and was over with the fans all night. Love did a better job then I thought he would do and realy made this an interesting match. The second best match of the night, Vince got what he desereved.
Unforgiven Rating ***
Good not great. This was Undertaker PPV and he delivered with the best match of the night. I would have liked to see a Light Heavyweight match, but I guess there waiting for XPac.
Top 10 most Overrated wrestlers in the world.
10-Juventud Guerrero- why does he still get title shots?
9-Curt Henning- He sucks and proves it on a regular basis.
8-Jeff Jarrett- Ric Flair wana bee.
7-Dude Love- Not a main event player. “Yet”
6-Goldberg- Do wins over Lodi and Glacier even count?
5-The Rock- Entertaining but doesn’t defend enough.
4-Macho Man-most dangerious senior citizen.
3-Kane- has a 1-2 record in 6 months.
2-Hollywood Hogan-should have retired 3 years ago.
1-Sting- In my opinion Sting lost 2 of the 3 Hogan matches. Other than his victory over Hall there isn’t much there to siggest that he’s a top contender in WCW. Besides he’s a puny little shit.
Hope you enjoyed the Gospel. If you have any comments, problems or possible top 10 catogories let me know.
