This event saw Bret Hart become the first WWF King of the Ring by defeating Razor Ramon, Mr. Perfect, and Bam Bam Bigelow. The commentators, by the way, were none other than Jim Ross, Bobby Heenan, and Randy Savage.
The match began with a good feeling out period where Bret Hart hit a headlock and a hip-toss that was countered by a Perfect head-scissors. Perfect kept this move on until Hart popped out and hit a headlock. Perfect drove Hart into the corner delivered a chop and was sent by Bret into the other corner. Bret then hit a bodyslam, but it was countered by a Perfect kick to the face when Perfect hit the mat. Hart then got slammed by Mr. Perfect, but retaliated by kicking Perfect in the face ad returning to the headlock. Perfect tried to hit his own headlock, but wound up delivering some punches to Hart’s side, instead. He sent Hart into the ropes, but Bret returned with a crucifix that received a two-count. Hart returned to a headlock. Perfect sent him into the ropes again, but got a cross-body in return, this time. Perfect threw Hart out of the ring, but Hart jumped onto the apron and buried his shoulder into the gut of Mr. Perfect. After receiving a two-count, Hart returned to the headlock. Perfect pushed Hart into the ropes and gave him a shot to the stomach. Perfect proceeded to stomp the Hitman’s midsection and kick him in the gut. He picked Hart up and delivered a standing dropkick that sent Bret out of the ring. Perfect kicked Hart as he came into the ring and pummeled him into the corner with kicks, punches, and chops. Perfect recieved a near-fall and Hart went out of the ring. Perfect went outside and beat on Hart and then sent him into the steel security railing injuring his knee. Perfect stopped the count while Hart was out of the ring. Perfect brought Hart into the ring and beat on him some more. Perfect climbed the ropes, and delivered a missle dropkick that almost got him the match. Perfect had a series a nearfalls, but when he climbed the ropes again, Hart delivered a Powerplex from the top rope. He got a nearfall for this attempt. When the men got back up, Hart tore at Perfect’s knee and applied the Figure-Four. Perfect eventually reached the ropes, but continues to get beat on as Hart weakened the leg of Mr. Perfect. Hart got caught in a leg/headlock and got his face stomped. Perfect threw Bret by his hair across the ring. Then, Perfect hit a sleeper until Bret reached the ropes. Perfect reapplied the sleeper and used the ropes for leverage. Hart reached the corner and sent Perfect down with a forearm. He then threw Perfect by his hair and began to execute his arsenal of manuevers. Hart tried to get the Sharpshooter, but was stopped when Perfect grabbed his hurt hand. Perfect then tried to get the PerfectPlex but wound up throwing the both of them out of the ring. Perfect rolled into the ring and hit a small-package on Hart that Bret rolled into a victory and a pin.
After the match, Perfect ran his mouth, but returned to the ring to shake the Hitman’s hand. Overall a great match. The pre-match interviews were great with both men quarrling over whose father was the better wrestler. If you have this match on tape, WATCH IT AGAIN!!!
